Samsung soundbar arc issues

New HW-Q60R subwoofer installed a few days ago. Subwoofer is paired wirelessly to the Soundbar. Bass is not sharp at all. Subwoofer is located about 7" from the same wall on which the TV is mounted. It is not in a corner. It is adjacent to the TV. Increasing the level with the Soundbar remote doesn't seem to do much.

For instance, if I am listening at a low volume level and then increase the volume, the bass does not increase until about 30 seconds later. Likewise, if I am listening loudly and then decrease the volume, the bass remains loud and boomy for about 30 seconds before decreasing in volume. Any thoughts as to what might be going on here and what can be done? I really want to like this thing but, if it keeps acting weird, it is going back to Best Buy.

Go to Solution. The only thing we have found that works is to use the soundbar's own remote. Using that seems to get the sub volume in sync with the rest of the soundbar. Using the TV's remote just doesn't work right. View solution in original post. As far as the muddy and muted sound, place the subwoofer in your preferred seating position.

Turn it up to your preferred level and play something you would normally listen to, then walk around the room, corners and otherwise until you find the place with the correct bass.

Place the subwoofer at this place. There will be a delay when adjusting the bass level, it's going through multiple systems while processing information simultaneously.

Regarding the setup - I think you may be correct. When the Soundbar Input is set to D. That led me to think I was using the ARC.

In the current setup, the soundbar now displays HDMI, which suggests it is getting the audio from the Roku maybe? The signal path is not clear. It seems to work with both the Roku and the Soundbar. I use the TV's remote control to control the volume on the Soundbar.

The muddy sound is not related to the position of the sub; this isn't a room effect. I am familiar with the process you outline.Visit our Blog to catch up on the latest Community news, tips for your Samsung products and much more! The Future changes shape!

Meet the new Samsung smartphone! I have the soundbar source set to "D. Then it is back to TV Speaker. The TV actually connected to the soundbar once for a few minutes, when sound was coming through the soundbar. So there seems to be potentially working connection, but something causes this connection to not work properly. Any ideas on what to try in order to make this work? Seems like a Samsung TV and a Samsung soundbar would be quite easy to connect, but no such luck Try disabling bluetooth and any wireless connections you may have set up, in case one is affecting the other?

Same issue for me with a different sound bar, worked fine for weeks them suddenly the tv wouldn't recognize the sound bar, I turned everything off at the mains for a couple of minutes then back on let it all power up and seems ok now. Say "Hello! What is the TV model? Have you updated the soundbar firmware?

Pik namjestaj polovni

I believe it should auto update if you connect to wireless but mine needed a 'push'. If you havent try downloading the multiroom app on a tablet or smartphone, let it detect the soundbar and you should be able to update the firmware through the settings? I had the same problem with my QF9n and HW-n I could not figure it out not could samsung. I bought and return 5 sound bars 2x Bose st and 3x Samsung HW-n due to the same issue.

I managed to convince samsung to send out an engineer to replace the one connect box as this could be the only reason. It worked so it must be the one connect box. This worked, then one by one add them back and see which causes the ARC connection to drop. If this is the issue you need the following on that connection. I have the same problem and have been told by my local dealer that it is the SKY Q box connection to the one box that causes the problem.

Samsung are aware of the problem and are looking for a fix The engineer has replaced the HDMI cable with a optical cable which he says is as good and more reliable? So no TV Arc connection.

How long have Samsung known about the problem and are they really working on a fix?I am having an issue with my new HW-Q90R 7. The soundbar is running the current firmware IN and therefore no audio from the TV.

No sound from soundbar connected to TV via HDMI ARC

Within a few hours and I had switch inputs back and forth from a Ultra-DVD player or Roku directly connected to the soundbar portsand back to TV connected device where the audio comes in to the ARC connection, the problem returns.

The soundbar does not see the ARC input and stays at D. Are there any devices connected directly to the soundbar? Please provide the full model code and current software version of the television. Yes, I have two devices connected to the soundbar.

There is a new software update available for the television. I would recommend updating the software via a USB flash drive. You can find the latest software here: Link. Download the file from the link above Once it is downloaded, right click on the file and click Extract and then select the base of the USB Flash Drive. I downloaded Version The TV says when it tries to read it, "No valid update files found. Please check your USB drive and try again. I tried many times to update the firmware from and it will not recognize the new firmware download files The contents on the USB drive D is this:.

ZIP" and the extracted directory name and also within the file "info. Should that be the same? So that does not make sense. There is firmware for it, but it says the latest version is Quite different from the TV searched version of Anyway I wanted to see if the TV accepts this download and tell me that its a previous version. So at this point, I am at a loss and I can't update my TV to which ever is the latest firmware. The TV then was able to update itself to the latest version.

I have since left off the SEK module. So the TV and the soundbar is at the lastest known versions of it's firmware. The soundbar works for a few days and then the ARC stops connecting. I have to powercycle the soundbar once again. So it's looks like it's some ARC handshaking problems going on.

There is no audio in soundbar. Both remotes control the volume adjustments. TV audio out put set to hdmi arc, soundbar source hdmi. What may be the issue. Yamaha has two hdmi port. HDMI 1 in. Any audio from TV sources through internet, hdmi ports not returned to soundbar. TV coaxial spdif audio seems to be OK using spdif to analog converter.

BUT No use. My doubt is the ARC returns only the audio which is sent with video thro hdmi arc or any audio from various sources to TV will return the audio to sound bar. Requesting audio experts comments and solution for this problem. Aug 27, 14, 937,Found this thread while still trying to fix my issue with my sound bar. Tech support now asked me to buy a new HDMI cable that supports CEC and if this won't work, I have to have my TV serviced because according to tech support, my tv doesn't send the signal to my sound bar through the hdmi.

But turns off when I turn off the tv. Please, if you know how to fix this issue, kindly help me. Thanks in advance. I changed the connection of my hdmi. SOundbar hdmi out connected to tv at first on hdmi 2 ARC - did not work. Next, i put hdmi to hdmi 3 with no arc, still did not work.

NOw i am not having any picture not unless I use the remote for the soundbar. I think it might be resolved now I'm hopeful. I didn't know what sound output I was going to get when turning on my TV. I updated my soundbar firmware via the Samsung Audio-Multiroom application, and it seems to be behaving better now. One thing I noticed after updating the soundbar is that it powers off when turning off the TV a lot more quickly.

Net10 mvno

Also turns on a lot more quickly. So there are definitely some notable improvements. I could previously replicate the issue almost on demand turn off and on the TV 3 or 4 times. I haven't been able to replicate it since the update. The initial set-up went perfectly as the Reciever was able to identity the ARC signal, the TV set up the smart remote and input to the HDMI 4 port and things worked together very well for about 2 days.

The TV remote was not doing anything with the Onkyo anymore. Then called Samsung Technical Support and they had me do a "hard boot" on the TV with TV on, unplug all inputs and then the power, and wait for 2 minutes. This time it worked for about 10 minutes and the same issue came up. I really need help with this. I've completed my first system unplug fix and it worked. A total waste of time and a real hassle. This is clearly a widespread problem.Menu Menu. Search Everywhere Threads This forum This thread.

If we, for example, play a YouTube video, we can hear the sound coming from our speakers, and the TV remote's volume buttons control the receiver's volume settings.

Troubleshooting Samsung Sound Bar Problems

However, we do not receive any video input from the HDMI port. In the Source settings, we can see that there's a cable plugged in, and we can select it, but when we do, the TV reports that it receives no signal. If we plug the HDMI cable into any of the other ports, then we receive video just fine for example, the receiver's menu panels, or a Digital TV Mediabox plugged into the Receiver.

Disabling Output to the receiver on the Smart TV settings does play audio from the TV, but this is naturally sub-par to hearing it over proper speakers. Is there a way to benefit from ARC when playing media on the TV itself, and still be able to receive signal from the receiver, without the need for separate audio cables which would include a loss of functionality, such as the receiver automatically powering on and switching to the TV ARC signal when the TV is powered on?

Last edited by a moderator: Sep 22, Jun 14, 4, 2 14, Well, sorta. There's also a PC hooked up directly to the TV, because that's physically a lot closer, and it made more sense to plug the TV in directly as an alternate monitor than through the Receiver.

However, we did do some barebones when testing, unplugging all other devices from both the TV and the Receiver, so that they were only connected to each other without other devices interfering. Why can't people understand that the problem is not with Sky but with Samsung who have admitted there is an issue with thier Q90 TVs and sound bars.

I personally saw the Samsung memo advising that the firmware update will reduce the lag but not remove it. This is what Samsung advised. If the issue was with Sky why is it that there is not issue whenusing the TV speakers? If you complain enough why do Samsung send out a firmware update to cure the issue?

No more lip sync and other audio issues. Because multiple issues are being conflated and they aren't all Samsung's fault, or at least nobody knows for certain.

For example and somewhat flogging a dead horse in here Sky Q breaking when plugged directly into soundbar and displaying HDCP compliance error. Quick google search shows this isnt isolated to Samsung equipment.

ARC problem in Yamaha soundbar YAS 207

Many of us don't have that setup and still have other issues with Sky Q only. I've tried everything and gave up, I can live with lip-sync but not pulling power plugs every other day. Has anyone got a definitive response from Sky Q yet to confirm the sound drop issue is caused by the Samsung Soundbar?

Just Sky Q showing this problem. Hi all, late to the party but suffering the same issues with lip sync. I have a Q9 TV and three q90r soundbar. I've tried doing what some people advise in connecting the sky q box directly to the soundbar via optical, it's better yes but lose the optimum sound. For the TV apps such as Netflix I use the hdmi arc method to get the best sound but when I go back to sky it returns to the hdmi connection with lag?

How do I get it to revert back to digital optical without disconnecting the hdmi lead, somebody mentioned toggling the arc settings, could anyone explain how to do this? Many thanks. Based on the lack of response it looks like no one has received a definitive response from Sky Q yet to confirm the sound drop issue is caused by the Samsung Soundbar? So it still appears to be mainly a Sky Q problem interfacing with the Soundbar.

It would be good to get a proper answer from Sky.
